    When MSD was established, its procurement, storage and distribution of health products were carried out without the use of IT systems where employees used special papers used to order and store records of health products such as Bin Card, Combined Requisition and Issue note (CRIN). In 1998, the use of IT began to be used to enhance the performance of its functions in the area of financial management using a system called Navision Financials.

  • MSD Board of Trustees, Approved the Distribution of Medical Equipment to Facilitate Contraceptives for Mother and Child

    MSD Board of Trustees Member Dr. Ritah Mutagonda, who has visited clients served by the Kilimanjaro Zone, is pleased with the implementation of the distribution of modern equipment to facilitate contraception for mothers and children.

    The Board member said this when they visited the Uru Kyaseni health center, where among other things he said that the government through MSD facilitating the distribution of such equipment will reduce the number of patients seeking services at the District and regional referral hospitals.

  • MSD Commended for Improving Its Services in Kagera Region

    The Medical Depot (MSD) has been commended for strengthening the supply chain of health products in Kagera region, which has reduced complaints of shortages of health products in the region.

    The commendations were given by the Regional Administrative Secretary Steven Nashauri Ndaki, while speaking to a special delegation from MSD that visited his office, led by the Chairperson of the MSD Board of Trustees, Ms. Rosemary Silaa, on a special visit to celebrate MSD's 30th anniversary.

  • MSD hands over surgical equipment worth 210 million - Itigi

    The Medical Depot (MSD) through the Dodoma Zone today handed over surgical equipment to Itigi District Hospital, located in Singida region, worth a total of 210 million shillings.

    Receiving the equipment, Manyoni District Commissioner Dr. Vincent Mashinji said the government's intention to purchase the equipment is to ensure that health services are provided at acceptable levels, and reduce preventable deaths especially for mothers and children during childbirth.

  • RMO Manyara - Asks Health Service Centers to Pay MSD Debts

    Health service providers in Manyara Region have been reminded to continue with the procedure of paying debts to the Medical Supply Department (MSD) as doing so will enable MSD to have good capital to continue purchasing health products that are distributed to health service providers in the country.

    This was stated by the Chief Medical Officer of Manyara Region Dr. Andrew Method when he opened a meeting of stakeholders and clients of MSD in the Kilimanjaro zone of Manyara Region.
