The Transport Unit, under the Directorate of Logistics and Operations, manages MSD’s national fleet and oversees the distribution of health commodities to all ten zonal stores and designated destinations across Tanzania.
With a fleet of over 215 vehicles, including temperature-controlled trucks, the unit ensures medical supplies are delivered safely, on time, and in full. It coordinates weekly transport plans submitted by warehouses, allocates vehicles, supervises loading operations, and tracks deliveries through an advanced Fleet Management System.
To maintain efficiency and product integrity, vehicles undergo regular inspection and maintenance at MSD’s workshop, while temperature monitoring systems safeguard the quality of commodities in transit. The unit also supports other government institutions with transport services when required.
As a vital link in MSD’s supply chain, the Transport Unit guarantees uninterrupted distribution of essential health commodities nationwide. Its operational reliability and commitment to safety and service quality reinforce MSD’s mission of ensuring timely access to life-saving medical supplies across Tanzania.
