Legal Services Unit
The Legal Services Unit ensures that the Medical Stores Department (MSD) operates within the legal frameworks and regulatory standards governing public institutions in Tanzania. Serving as the Department’s legal advisor, the unit safeguards institutional integrity, provides expert counsel, and oversees compliance to uphold MSD’s reputation and protect its interests.
Functioning as the official liaison between MSD and the Office of the Attorney General, the Legal Services Unit provides advisory services to the Board of Trustees, Executive Management Team, and all directorates and units. It reviews contracts, internal regulations, and agreements to ensure they conform to relevant laws, safeguard MSD’s position, and minimize potential risks.
The unit also manages corporate legal compliance and oversees the resolution of legal cases involving the organization. It plays an instrumental role in coordinating meetings of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Management Team by providing secretarial support and ensuring adherence to legal and governance procedures.
Through its proactive approach, the Legal Services Unit enhances transparency, accountability, and ethical governance at MSD. Its oversight ensures that every decision and partnership undertaken by the institution is legally sound, contributing to the overall credibility and stability of Tanzania’s public health supply chain.
