Quality Assurance Unit


The Quality Assurance Unit safeguards the consistency and reliability of MSD’s service delivery nationwide. Through scheduled internal audits, risk assessments, and fail-safe contingency measures, the Unit ensures uninterrupted operations even in critical circumstances. Continuous improvement initiatives, coupled with internal process-training programs, cultivate a culture of operational excellence and institutional learning across all MSD facilities.

The Medical Stores Department (MSD) operates a mature and ISO 9001:2015-certified Quality Management System (QMS), reflecting the institution’s unwavering commitment to excellence. Our management systems and operational processes undergo regular assessments, audits, and reviews to ensure continual improvement and alignment with international best practices.

The QMS provides robust controls over operational processes, change management, risk mitigation, non-conformance handling, and data analysis. These measures underpin the integrity of MSD’s operations, guaranteeing efficiency and compliance across functions such as warehousing, customer service, key accounts, IT, HR, finance, and security management.

MSD was established for the purpose of production, procurement, storage, and distribution of approved health commodities required for use by health facilities. In living this mission, we ensure that health commodities in Tanzania are accessible, reliable, and affordable but also delivered on time at all health facilities in Tanzania and beyond.
