    THE GOVERNMENT through the Medical Supply Department (MSD), has handed over medical equipment worth 900 million shillings to the Ifakara City Council.

    Speaking yesterday in the region, Kilombero MP Hon. Abubakar Asenga, said the arrival of the equipment will help improve health services so they thank the government for the major step of improvements in the sector.

    Local manufacturers of health products have been assured of a domestic and foreign market for their products, while they are being urged to consider the volume of demand and quality of the products.

    Speaking at the opening of a meeting of local manufacturers of health products organized by the Medical Supply Department (MSD), the Chief Pharmacist of the Government, Daudi Msasi, said that the government is committed to empowering local manufacturers, especially in matters of laws and regulations related to the health product industry.

  • Government hands over 200 million medical supplies to Njombe Region

    The Government through the Medical Depot (MSD) Iringa Region has handed over medical equipment to the Kifana Health Center in Njombe Town Council in the region worth more than 200 million shillings.

    The health center is among the new centers recently built by the government with the aim of bringing services closer to the citizens.

    Speaking at the weekend, the MSD Iringa Region Manager Robert Lugembe said the move is in support of the efforts of the government of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in improving health services.

    Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango has said the government recognizes the struggle in the construction of pharmaceutical factories but since the decision is made by President Dr. Samia Suluhi Hassan, no one will be able to stop them, so they will be built.

    He said that currently the government imports 80 percent of medicines and 90 percent of medical equipment from abroad, a situation that causes shortages of equipment and high costs of importing health equipment, so it is necessary to take difficult decisions.
