USAID and PEPFAR Senior Leadership Visit MSD in Iringa Region
USAID Tanzania Resident Director Craig Hart and PEPFAR Tanzania Executive Coordinator Jessica Greene have visited MSD Iringa Region to observe how MSD is implementing its responsibilities, especially the procurement, storage, and distribution of health products funded by the Funds.
Speaking at different times during the visit, Mr. Hart and Ms. Greene have commended MSD for its expertise in managing and distributing project products to beneficiaries who are citizens.
The leaders have also commended the good relationship between Tanzania and the US Government through USAID and PEPFAR projects, emphasizing that cooperation through these projects has greatly helped improve and strengthen the health of citizens.
In another step, they have commended MSD for being committed to its goal of self-sufficiency in business, as it is a good step towards a strong economy and reliable services.
In addition, they have promised to continue collaborating with the Tanzanian government, as well as various stakeholders including MSD, in various fields as needed.
For her part, the Chairperson of the MSD Board of Trustees, Ms. Rosemary Slaa has thanked the US government through its projects for continuing to support Tanzania.
She added that MSD distributes many products under the control of these donors, for example, AIDS, Malaria products, as well as maternal and child products.
Rosemary also indicated that MSD has become a major beneficiary through the construction of warehouses, installation of systems, and purchase of distribution vehicles through the generosity of these stakeholders.
However, she explained that MSD is still facing a shortage of warehouses to store health products, due to the increase in the population, health centers, dispensaries and hospitals in the country, thus requesting these stakeholders to continue to support MSD, so that it can stand firmly in the supply chain.
The visit came as the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the PEPFAR Fund.
