MSD receives award for facilitating heart treatment in the country
The Drug Depot (MSD) has been awarded a special award by the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute (JKCI) in recognition of its contribution and collaboration in improving services and treatment of Heart Programs in the country.
The special award was presented by the Minister of Health of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hon. Dr. Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, while closing the three-day International Conference on Heart Diseases, organized by the JKCI, and bringing together various stakeholders, including leaders, doctors, researchers, distributors of Medicines and Medical Equipment in the islands.
MSD has been an important partner of JKCI in improving services of Heart Programs in the country, by ensuring reliable access to medicines, medical equipment, reagents for heart diagnosis and treatment in the country.
In addition, MSD has ensured that it supplies modern medicines and medical equipment to JKCI, including machines with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, a step that has helped improve the health of Tanzanians with heart disease challenges.
For his part, the Director General of the Medical Depot (MSD), who is one of the main sponsors of the conference, said, JKCI is one of the major customers of the depot who have been collaborating closely in ensuring that they support President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to improve the health sector for Tanzanians by providing quality services.
He said, the institution has been a major stakeholder for MSD who place orders for their needs on time and with accurate specifications and have been ensuring that they collaborate to find suppliers, learn new technologies, purchase needed products and equipment.
And the Manager of MSD Dar es Salaam Region Betia Kaema said, the aim of participating in the conference is to expand the scope for African cardiologists to recognize MSD's capabilities in serving the sector, while expanding the scope of cooperation with other stakeholders who attended the conference.
