UNFPA Provides Family Planning Assistance to the Government of Tanzania

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has handed over contraceptive pills to the Government of Tanzania.

Speaking at a short event held at the Medicines Depot (MSD), UNFPA Representative in Tanzania, Mr. Mark Bryan Schreiner, said the assistance is part of UNFPA's efforts to help the Government of Tanzania improve family planning services for the people.

He added that Tanzania has been a major partner of UNFPA, in the implementation and improvement of family planning services, which is instrumental in improving the health of the people, especially the poor.

And a representative from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Felix Bundala, thanked UNFPA for continuing the good cooperation between it and Tanzania, especially in assisting Tanzania in various aspects of improving health services.

For his part, MSD Director General Mavere Tukai said MSD has received the pills and MSD's role is to ensure that they reach health care facilities in the country, with the goal of improving health services, especially for mothers and children.
