DAR ES SALAAM:

The Government of Tanzania has received a grant of 230 million shillings from the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) to purchase protective equipment to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Handing over the grant on behalf of the bank’s management, the Director of Public Relations and Investment, Ms. Mary Kamari, said her bank has provided the grant to support the fight against COVID-19, while promising to continue collaborating with the Tanzanian government in various strategic projects to bring development to Tanzanians.

Receiving the grant on behalf of the government, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Hamad Hassan Chande (Mb), commended the bank for its contribution to the health sector, while urging it to continue collaborating with the government in various areas of development.

For his part, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Seif Shekalaghe said the Ministry has received the assistance with great humility as it will help in the fight against outbreaks of diseases similar to COVID-19, for example the Ebola outbreak that hit neighboring countries.
