MSD Commended for Construction of Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Factories

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budget, Hon. Daniel Sillo, commended the Medicines Depot (MSD) for its great efforts to improve access to health products in the country by establishing pharmaceutical factories and improving pharmaceutical factories that were in poor condition.

Sillo made the commendations today, when the Committee was on a visit to MSD, where among other things, members of the Committee visited the Keko pharmaceutical factory, the MSD factory for manufacturing masks and the warehouses for storing health products in Keko.

He commended the Director General of MSD, Major General Gabriel Mhidze and all MSD executives for their vision to establish pharmaceutical factories and medical equipment, as purchasing these products from abroad and elsewhere has been costing the government a lot of money that could have been used to improve other services.

Our Committee has heard the challenges from you that are hindering you from moving forward, we are taking them and conveying them to the government to ensure that MSD is strengthened accordingly to facilitate access to medicines in the country.

And the Director General of MSD, Major General Gabriel Mhidze, in his performance report submitted to the Committee, stated that despite the various challenges facing MSD, it continues to provide quality and high-quality services to citizens and manage the supply chain, in order to bring productivity to the country's health system.
