Njombe Regional Commissioner Visits MSD-Idofi Factory
NJOMBE
The Njombe Regional Commissioner, Hon. Antony Mtaka and the Njombe Regional Security and Safety Committee have visited the Medical Supply (MSD) factory for producing hand gloves located in Idofi, Makambako, whose construction is 70 percent complete.
Mhe. Mtaka said the factory is important for the health sector as it will reduce the use of foreign currency to buy the product abroad and reduce the challenge of obtaining hand gloves in the country.
Mtaka instructed MSD to complete the factory so that production can begin so that citizens can benefit from the project and find markets in SADC countries.
The Chairperson of the MSD Board of Trustees, Rosemary Silaa, said the factory will provide 200 jobs while MSD Director General Mavere Tukai explained that the production of hand gloves at the factory is expected to begin in July this year.
The factory's production will enable MSD to meet its needs for 83.4 percent of the country's hand gloves needs.
For his part, the Chief Government Pharmacist Daudi Msasi said the government through the Ministry of Health supports the establishment of health product factories, and they will ensure that the factory starts production.
The factory will save the expenditure of 24 billion foreign exchange per year that would have been spent on purchasing the product abroad.
