Health Secretary Urges MSD to Care for Its Customers
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. John Jingu, has directed the Medical Distribution Company (MSD) to care for customers and involve them in the entire issue of providing them with health product supply chain services in the country.
Dr. Jingu said this while opening the twenty-second (22) session of the MSD Staff Council in Morogoro Region where he stressed that caring for customers is the basis for serving them according to their needs.
“It is very important to care for our customers and involve them in the entire issue of providing them with health product supply chain services in the country so that they know the work being done by the Government.” Said Dr. Jingu
In addition, Dr. Jingu emphasized the importance of MSD to conduct business and be creative in order to bring efficiency and productivity to society.
For his part, the Director General of MSD, Mr. Mavere Tukai, said that MSD is among the strategic institutions and has begun to conduct business.
“In the past year, MSD has been able to increase the availability of healthcare products by entering into long-term contracts with manufacturers where the availability of medicines has increased from 51% last financial year, to more than 80% this year.” Said Mr. Tukai
He said, this area is also seen in meeting customer needs where last year it was 44 percent and this has increased to 78 percent.
In terms of sales, Tukai said there is an increase in sales of healthcare products from 77 billion shillings last financial year to 123 billion shillings this financial year.
“MSD will continue to improve its operations by strengthening its operational performance to continue providing services for the availability of pharmaceutical products to Tanzanians.” Said Mr. Tukai.
