Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Announces Favor for the Health Sector in the Country
PRIME MINISTER Kassim Majaliwa has said that His Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan is determined to continue strengthening the provision of health services by facilitating access to experts, medicines, reagents and medical equipment.
Mr. Majaliwa made the statement today, October 26, 2022, after witnessing the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Tanzania Medical Depot (MSD) and the Chungcheongbuck Provincial Government in South Korea.
Speaking during the event, which was also attended by the Governor of Chungcheongbuck Provincial Government, Mr. Majaliwa said “This signing of this agreement is a sign that we are now going to strengthen the pharmaceutical sector, this agreement is important for us because we need to strengthen ourselves in the area of access to medicines and research.”
Part of the agreement in the agreement is to discuss and develop commercial relations in the areas of marketing of products produced by pharmaceutical companies in the province.
Other areas include staff exchanges, joint seminars of their experts in various fields, exchange and sharing of investment information in the pharmaceutical sector, professional support and experts.
Mr. Majaliwa explained to the Governor that, due to the Government's plan to continue strengthening the health care delivery sector, the Government of Tanzania welcomes investors to build pharmaceutical and medical equipment factories to facilitate easy access to medicines and medical equipment.
He commended the leadership of MSD for the great strides it has made in the joint procurement plan, while promising to work on the various challenges presented by MSD, in order to bring productivity and impetus to joint procurement of health products for member countries.
However; he called on MSD to increase its strength and creativity to attract more countries and ensure that the goal is achieved, while commending the plan to give priority to local manufacturers, as it will boost the economies of member countries as well as increase employment.
