Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) visits MSD
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) under its Chairman, Hon. Naghenjwa Kaboyoka has visited and reviewed the progress of the construction of a modern warehouse project to store health products being built by the Medicines Department (MSD) in the Kizota area, Dodoma Region.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kaboyoka commended MSD for the great work it is doing in building a large modern warehouse that will go a long way in solving the challenges of maintaining health products. "The work you are doing is visible, today we have seen a major investment in this large and modern warehouse that has international quality, the government has invested more than 23.7 billion to build this warehouse with 7,200 square meters, we as a committee expect to see the challenges of maintaining health products reduce".
In addition, in addition to commending the construction of the warehouses, Hon. Kaboyoka commended the way MSD is distributing blood dialysis machines to Kidney patients which has led to reducing the cost of the service for the citizens. "These days, kidney diseases have become so common that young children are getting the disease. We thank MSD for reducing the cost of this service after MSD started distributing dialysis machines. We now see that the service has reduced its cost significantly.
For her part, the Chairperson of the MSD Board, Ms. Rosemary Silaa, said MSD will continue with the construction of new warehouses with the aim of solving the challenges of handling health products. After this construction in Dodoma and Mtwara, MSD will begin the construction of new warehouses in Chato, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Ruvuma regions. MSD currently has the capacity to store these products on 56,000 square meters while MSD needs 100,000 square meters to meet its storage needs.
