MSD and Dar es Salaam Regional Health Stakeholders Encouraged to Collaborate
The Dar es Salaam Regional Administrative Secretary, Ms. Rehema Madenge, has urged health stakeholders in the region to work closely with the Medical Supply Department (MSD) to improve services and resolve various challenges facing the health supply chain in the region.
Ms. Madenge made the statement today, while opening a working session between the Medical Supply Department (MSD), Dar es Salaam Zone and its health stakeholders in the region, who met to discuss the best way to improve the health supply chain, services and relations between the two parties.
She stressed that the stakeholders' working session is important as it includes health sector actors from local governments to the region, thus commending MSD for the move as it will help improve the quality of service delivery in line with performance.
“My call to health facility executives is to consider accurate statistics on their needs and requirements and submit them to MSD on time, to consider revenue collection and filling out health insurance forms accurately to enable funds to be obtained, so that our MSD colleagues can serve us on time, and the citizens can benefit,” he said.
Speaking at the working session, the MSD Manager - Dar es Salaam Zone, Ms. Betia Kaema, said the goal of the working session is to improve access to medicines and medical supplies on time in the 960 facilities and 23 districts they serve, in the Zone.
He said, in the session they discussed in detail how they can improve access to medicines and medical supplies in all areas they serve and be able to achieve the goal of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan of quality health services for the community.
He said the session had helped them exchange experiences, discuss and jointly resolve existing challenges between MSD practitioners and health practitioners in the region, including doctors, pharmacists and laboratory experts in the Dae es Salaam region and come out with joint resolutions.
The Regional Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam, Dr. Rashid Mfaume, said they were grateful to President Dr. Samia for the great facilitation and performance of MSD where its beneficiaries are the citizens, while urging MSD to continue improving the few remaining areas, especially special procurement.
