Minister Jenista Mhagama Commends MSD-Dodoma Modern Warehouse Construction Project
The Minister of Health, Hon. Jenista Mhagama, on February 6, 2025, visited and inspected the progress of the construction of a modern warehouse for storing health products being built by the Medicines Dispensary (MSD) in the Kizota area, Dodoma Region, and commended the progress of the strategic project which has reached 85%.
Minister Mhagama noted that the government of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has made major reforms in the Health sector, and has continued to focus on the guiding pillars of the system, which facilitate access to quality services in the Health sector.
"The work done is visible, and even today we have seen a huge investment in this large and modern warehouse that has international quality, the government has invested more than 23.7 billion to build this 7,200 square meter warehouse. Said Mhagama
Mhe. Mhagama added that the construction has also continued in the MSD Mtwara Zone, where more than 18 billion have been spent to complete the construction, while noting that the construction will also continue in other areas, which are Mwanza, Chato, Iringa, Moshi, Arusha and Songea.
"The main goal of these efforts is to ensure that health products are available on time and with the required quality, and are stored in the required environment, so the Board, management and the Government of Dr. Samia have done a lot. Emphasized Hon. Mhagama.
In another step, Hon. Mhagama has commended the leadership of MSD for improving the availability of health products in the country, where he noted that currently the availability has increased to 83 percent.
He added that MSD is an important tool in strengthening health services in our nation. Thus, he commended the institution for continuing to be at the forefront in ensuring the sustainable availability of health products in the country.
Hon. Mhagama stated that his Ministry will continue to collaborate with MSD to ensure that these dreams and visions of liberating Tanzanians, and ensuring security in our nation are realized, as the health of Tanzanians is the security of our nation.
For her part, the Chairperson of the MSD Board of Trustees, Ms. Rosemary Silaa, explained how MSD is in the process of ensuring that it increases the availability of health products in the country, including the construction of warehouses and offices, in parallel with improving contracts with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that the country becomes safe.
Ms. Silaa also continued to thank the Ministry of Health and the sixth-term government, under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for good management and continuing to enable MSD to carry out its duties professionally, by ensuring that the budget funds for the procurement of health products are available on time.
He added that MSD is continuing its efforts to become commercially self-sufficient by establishing a subsidiary company to manage and establish factories in the country, in order to have sustainable access to health products in the country.
