Igunga District Commissioner Commends Improvements in MSD Services

Igunga District Commissioner Hon. Sauda Salum Mtondoo has commended the MSD Drug Store for the improvements in its services, which has led to the reliable availability of health products in the country, thus bringing relief to service providers and citizens in general in the district.

Hon. Mtondo made the remarks yesterday at a working session, following the visit of the MSD Delegation led by MSD Board of Trustees Member Dr. Rashid Mfaume, who was accompanied by the Acting Director of Supply and Operations MSD Mr. Victor Sungusia along with other Members from the MSD Tabora Zone, to visit the district, to assess the status of MSD service delivery in Tabora Region.

Hon. Mtondo noted that, Currently, MSD has made efforts in the area of access to health products compared to the past and has made the problem of lack of health products at the facilities significantly reduce, thus eliminating the complaints of citizens that existed before.

In addition, he has urged MSD not to be complacent but to increase efforts to ensure that the remaining gap in the availability of some health products, especially medical equipment, is closed, thus making major investments made by the government in building and improving the infrastructure of the health sector, including the presence of staff to bring productivity.

For his part, the Member of the Board of Trustees of MSD, Dr. Mfaume, has commended the Igunga Council for investing in the infrastructure of the health sector, including health services in general, while noting that MSD continues to improve its services, to ensure that it meets the intended goals of ensuring adequate access to health products in the country.

He added that MSD will continue to improve communication and relationships with its customers and stakeholders, to ensure that they have a common understanding, in parallel with understanding the various processes and steps that MSD is taking, in ensuring that it improves its services, so that together they can improve the state of health service delivery in the country.

And the Chief Medical Officer of the District, Dr. Luciana Kafumu, said the availability of Medicines and Medical Equipment in the District is an average of 91%, a move that has improved the quality of service delivery at health care facilities in the district.

In addition, despite commending MSD for improving the availability of medicines and medical equipment, Dr. Kafumu has advised MSD to improve the availability of some medical equipment, which has been difficult to obtain on time, in order to meet the needs of newly built and completed facilities, in parallel with expanding the quality of service delivery to some service facilities.
