The Government, Through MSD, Dar es Salaam Zone Distributes Medical Equipment Worth 930 Million - Ulanga District.

THE GOVERNMENT through the Dar es Salaam Medical Store (MSD) has distributed medical equipment worth more than shillings 930 million for 24 health centers in the Ulanga District Council.

Speaking yesterday in the same district in Morogoro region, Ulanga constituency MP Salim Hasham said they have received the medical equipment and medicines worth more than shillings 900 million for 23 health centers in the Ulanga District Council.

He said the government of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan's commitment to the health sector is huge, so the move to receive the modern medical equipment is a continuation of improvements in the health sector where Ulanga and the Morogoro region in general are beneficiaries.

“This is the implementation of our Revolutionary Party Manifesto, Article 83, Chapter 3 and to a large extent, our Party Chairman, who is the President, is doing justice to us members by doing more than our expectations, the health sector is a very important sector for the development of this nation.

“We see significant changes in our drug depot in the last three years, here the district hospital had a problem with X-Ray machines for more than four years but we have found them and people who were going to other districts for services now do not worry anymore,” he said.

He said, apart from that step, they have received Sh. 900 million for the renovation of the district hospital where negotiations are ongoing so that they can be given another area that will meet the needs of the district which is currently large involving investors and mineral traders who will be provided with services.

Salim stressed that, the district within three years has received two health centers and 10 dispensaries and surprisingly there are health centers that have not completed construction including the Ruaha health center but MSD has reached all essential needs including medical equipment.

“In the past, health centers were running out and we have been waiting for medical equipment for more than a year, but now medical equipment is waiting for the doctor to finish and the citizens to get services in a short time. Give them their rights, MSD, the changes are very big, the MSD of our mother, President Samia, is not the one we used to point fingers at all the time,” he stressed.

And the MSD Manager for Dar es Salaam Region Betie Kaema said, MSD on behalf of the government promise not to let the President down in the implementation of his duties, so the reliable availability of medicines and medical equipment in the country will continue to improve, the goal being to improve health services. He said, the arrival of medicines and medical equipment worth more than shs. 900 million is a continuation of these improvements.

“From July to November, we have ensured that medicines and medical equipment worth shs. 600 million are brought here and now we have handed over medicines and medical equipment worth more than shs. 300 million, so 23 health centers in Ulanga will receive products worth 900 million shs. all of which have been completed and are now being distributed to the centers.

"We promise under our government and the Ministry of Health to expect greater things from us MSD. Our Director General Mavere Tukai has instructed all of us who manage these regions to be good agents in saving the lives of citizens and the lives of citizens are saved by the reliable availability of medicines and medical equipment including these modern laboratory machines that we have brought here today (yesterday),

He mentioned some of the medical equipment that has been provided to the citizens of Ulanga as a dental chair, examination beds, ward beds for patients, heating equipment for infants, respiratory support equipment, oxygen equipment, surgical beds and Ultrasound machines.

Others are chairs for carrying patients, medical water hanging equipment, hospital passes, curtain stands for covering patients, delivery equipment boxes, medicine dispensing trolleys, recovery beds and others.

For his part, Ulanga District Chief Medical Officer Alli Ramadhan, said that currently the state of health services in the district has improved significantly starting from staff, medicines and medical equipment.

“The availability of medicines and medical equipment is 95 to 97 percent, unlike the previous 70 to 80 percent, this situation has greatly reduced complaints from the public and having faith in our staff, I would like to congratulate MSD, the improvements are great, starting from the service to us, their customers, and getting the medicines and equipment that we used to take for granted and the delivery of medicines and equipment on time, if you order, there is no delay, this sends a message to us in our performance,” he said
