Government Disburses 222.472 Million Medical Supplies to Singida Region

THE Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan through the Medical Supply (MSD) has handed over medical equipment to Singida Region worth approximately Shs. 222.472 million, in order to improve health services in the Region.

The equipment includes generators, along with equipment that will be used to care for premature babies and other services that have been handed over to Ikungi District Hospital, Sepuka Health Center and Singida District Hospital, Ilongero.

Speaking at the handover ceremony which was witnessed by members of parliament, executives of various health sector departments, citizens and members of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), the MSD Dodoma Zone Manager Mwanashehe Jumaa said that the task of distributing the equipment is their responsibility given to them by the Government.

"Our main job at MSD is to purchase, produce, store and distribute healthcare products and reagents in the country, which we do with legal authority," said Jumaa.

“MSD is here in Ikungi today to hand over a generator, a surgical bed, an Ultra-Sound machine and a machine to help provide warmth to newborns and premature babies. (Infant Rad warmer) worth more than Sh. 72 million

Jumaa said the main goal of the delivery of the equipment is to ensure that maternity services are improved and that in the district MSD was completing the equipment for which it had received more than Sh. 300 million to complete its distribution.

He said MSD Dodoma Zone has received requests for medical equipment worth more than Sh. 700 million, where there are also more than 700 equipment from the Ikungi District Council for Health Centers and Dispensaries.

"If you look at the time we received this money and the implementation of delivering the equipment, it is a very short time and that is due to the Government improving MSD services and reaching this stage of completing the equipment that we did not deliver before and delivering it now after receiving its funds shortly "He said the Government has been providing funds and MSD has been purchasing and distributing medical equipment to hospitals and health centers across the country, thanking them for the move and explaining that it builds morale among health workers and that they love the work they do.

Singida East Constituency MP Miraji Mtaturu thanked the Government and MSD for sending the equipment, explaining that the health sector is life and that people will be able to do their jobs well if they are healthy.

"Today we are witnessing these equipment brought by the Government through MSD and handed over to our Ikungi hospital, which means our implementation of building a District Hospital that we have been asking for for a long time," said Mtaturu.

He said that just building hospital buildings is not enough and that it requires additional items including equipment and that doctors and other professionals have been trained to help people treat various diseases and by using these equipment they can easily do their work, whether it is testing or performing surgeries.

Mtaturu said the Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a major revolution very much in the health sector in this country so every person who loves development should thank him for the way he runs the country in various sectors.

Singida West Constituency Member of Parliament, Elibariki Kingu receiving the equipment for the Sepuka Health Center said that among the equipment he received from MSD is a 60 KVA generator and 11 other equipment, some of which are a trolley to store equipment when doctors and nurses go to provide services, equipment used to help a child after birth to breathe properly and that all the equipment he received is used to combat invasive births and its goal is to save the mother or child from dying during childbirth.

He mentioned other equipment he received is a machine for air, a weighing machine, a device for hanging a drip, a device for warming premature babies, a device for sucking dirt in the airway after a child is born, a wall clock, a device that carries equipment for caring for a person who has been injured and a pump used to suck a child to remove something stuck in the throat or loss of consciousness after to be installed and that all the equipment is worth more than Sh.82 million.

Kingu thanked the Government for providing funds and commended the major improvements made within the MSD and explained that today's MSD is modern and a savior for the citizens in the work of providing health services not only to the Singida Region but to the entire country, works that have been seen through the media.

On his part, the Member of Parliament for Singida North Constituency, Ramadhani Ighondo thanked the Government for sending a generator and a vehicle to transport patients and pregnant women, many of whom were losing their lives due to lack of reliable electricity while receiving services, especially surgical procedures and the lack of a vehicle to take them to the hospital when they are sick.

Ighondo said that in addition to the ambulance, the Government through MSD has also sent them a device used to warm premature babies.

He said that apart from the ambulance, the equipment they received is worth more than Shs. 62.7 million

The Ikungi District Chief Medical Officer, Dorisila Mlenga, the Singida District Chief Medical Officer, Grace Ntogwisangu, and the Sepuka Health Center Medical Officer, Kesia Daniel thanked the Government for sending them the equipment which will make it easier for them to provide services to the citizens, where they said they will manage and maintain them so that they can last for a long time considering that the Government has been spending a lot of money to buy them.

Citizens Elesisia Mlenga, Asha Salim, Asha Musa, Teacher Tatu Njoka, Ashura Iddi and a student of Seketoure Secondary School, Getruda Yona thanked the Government through MSD for providing them with a generator and an ambulance and explained that the equipment will help them in getting better health services.

Student Getruda Yona thanked President Samia for building a school for them and reducing the long distance where they used to walk more than 10 kilometers to school before the construction of the Seketoure school.
