Dodoma Region Plans to Improve Access to Health Products
MSD Dodoma Zone Manager Ms. Mwanashehe Jumaa has requested the leadership of the Dodoma Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) to coordinate and manage the submission of requests for health service delivery facilities on time and the payment of debts, so that MSD can continue to provide services effectively and on time.
Ms. Jumaa made the statement over the weekend, in front of the team, under the leadership of the Dodoma Regional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thomas Rutachunzibwa, during a meeting to discuss ways to improve the supply chain of health products in the region, which brought together a delegation from MSD and the health leadership in the region.
Ms. Jumaa noted that MSD's ability to fully serve its customers depends on many factors including financial resources, thus requesting facilities with debts to pay on time or reduce their debts, to give MSD the muscle to continue ordering health products, and ensure that the products are available in the warehouse at all times.
In addition, Ms. Jumaa commended the Regional Health leadership for convening the meeting between the parties, which he said had brought about productive discussions and resolved various challenges facing the health product supply chain in the Region.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Rutachunzibwa called on the RHMT Dodoma team to supervise Health practitioners in the Region by ensuring that they process and submit their needs to the MSD on time, so that they can be served on time, and health services are sustainable.
Dr. Rutachunzibwa directed the RHMT team to ensure that Health Workers use their expertise to ensure that they process their needs accurately, in order to eliminate the challenge of lack of health products in facilities, due to inadequate supplies.
In line with that, Dr. Rutachunzibwa has instructed the RHMT Dodoma team as managers of health centers, to ensure that the needs of health products in the region reach the region before the fifth of each month, so that they can be assessed and approved and then submitted to MSD before the 10th of the relevant month, as the ILS guidelines suggest.
In another step, he has directed health care centers in the region to pay their debts to MSD, to ensure that the supply chain of health products in the region is not interrupted, but is sustainable
In addition, he has asked the RHMT Team in collaboration with MSD to ensure that they visit all centers with debts to MSD and determine its reality and then ensure that they make payments through other sources of income.
